Lunch Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated
If packing lunch feels like one more thing on your already-too-long list, we get it. Between finding something your kid will actually eat, remembering the water bottle, and somehow making it gluten free, dairy free, and nutritious… lunch can start to feel like a full-time job.
And no, a lunch does not need to look like something from Pinterest to be a good lunch.
The goal is simple: nutrient-packed food that your kids will actually eat.
Think protein, healthy fats, fiber, fruits and veggies, and a few foods they genuinely enjoy. It doesn't have to be perfect. It just needs to give their growing bodies some good fuel to get through the day.
If you're navigating gluten free or dairy free lunches, it can feel like your options suddenly got very small. But there are still plenty of simple, satisfying combinations that don't require spending your entire Sunday meal prepping 47 tiny containers of food.
Keep It Simple
Try building lunches around a few basics:
Protein: turkey, chicken, beans, hummus, dairy-free yogurt, or a gluten-free protein option
Healthy fats: avocado, nut or seed butter, olives, or seeds
Fruits & veggies: whatever they'll actually eat—yes, fruit absolutely counts
Gluten-free carbs: rice, potatoes, gluten-free crackers, tortillas, or pasta
Something fun: because food is supposed to be enjoyable!
And remember, fed is better than fancy.
We created a free Lunch Box Generator to take some of the guesswork out of packing lunches. Use it to mix and match simple ideas and create lunches that are gluten free, dairy free, nutrient-packed, and realistic for your family.
Because lunch shouldn't require a spreadsheet, a culinary degree, and three hours of your life.
